A wallet for delegated actions
Alipay plans to introduce an AI wallet agent, according to TechNode's report from the Bund Summit. The proposed product would support payment modes called Vibe Pay, Skill Pay and Machine Pay, as well as functions such as repeat purchases, assisted shopping and booking.
The company says the agent will use Ant's APASS trust infrastructure and a Know-Your-Agent framework. In the announcement, those controls cover who the agent is, what it intends to do, what permission it has and how it behaves. A public launch date, supported-merchant list and detailed consumer terms were not established in the report.
The request and the payment must remain connected
An instruction such as 'buy this again next month' contains several decisions: which product, what quantity, an acceptable price and when the purchase should occur. A system that merely authenticates the account has not resolved all of them. It must preserve the scope of the original instruction as the agent moves between services.
That is why an agent identity alone is insufficient. A recognized agent can still misunderstand a request or act after permission has changed. Payment authorization needs a record that connects the user, the permitted action and the resulting transaction.
What the announcement establishes
The news is a planned product and a proposed trust architecture. It should not be read as permission for software to spend from every Alipay account without confirmation, or as evidence that every listed payment mode has the same controls.
The practical next disclosure would show how a person sets and changes limits, approves an exceptional purchase and stops a recurring instruction. A merchant also needs to know how an agent-generated order is identified and how refunds are handled. These operational details will determine the difference between a convenient wallet assistant and a payment flow that users cannot readily understand or correct.
