THE ESSENTIALS
  • Token traffic measures usage on OpenRouter, rather than model quality or global market share.

The week’s usage snapshot

Models from four Chinese developers occupied positions two through five in OpenRouter’s weekly token rankings for September 28–October 4, according to the platform’s public data. National Business Daily highlighted the results on October 5.

DeepSeek V4.1 Flash recorded 25.6 trillion tokens, followed by Z.ai’s GLM 5.3 Flash with 9.73 trillion, Xiaomi’s MiMo-V2.6-Flash with 9.63 trillion, and Tencent’s Hy4 preview with 6.51 trillion.

Space Bunny Alpha led with 38.7 trillion tokens. OpenRouter lists its developer as “stealth”; the model’s identity remains unconfirmed.

How to read the figures

OpenRouter counts input and output tokens, aggregates usage in UTC and ranks model variants separately. Private requests are excluded. This snapshot ends on October 4; it is not a count of activity on the day this article was published.

Token volumes are affected by tokenization and response length. They do not establish user counts, revenue, model capability or a country’s share of the entire AI market. The four models’ weekly trends also differed: DeepSeek and Xiaomi grew, while GLM and Tencent declined.
