THE ESSENTIALS
  • Hello’s robotaxi operation announced approximately $100 million of new financing.
  • The reported post-money valuation is close to $3 billion.
  • Funding is directed toward research, computing and data, with deployment still requiring operational proof.

Funding follows the HR1 production launch

Hello's autonomous-driving operation, Shanghai Zufu Intelligent Technology, announced a financing round of about $100 million, according to National Business Daily. Shanghai Guotou's fund led the round, with Minhang Jintou and China Creation Ventures participating. The reported post-money valuation is near $3 billion.

The operation was established in 2025 by Hello, Ant Group and CATL. Its HR1 vehicle entered production in July 2026, and the reported production count exceeds 100. A production count should not be interpreted as the number of vehicles providing paid driverless rides.

Where the new money is intended to go

The company told National Business Daily that the funding would support research staffing, computing infrastructure and its data supply chain. The account also describes plans to concentrate on selected cities and to accelerate work in Shanghai. These statements concern intended spending and expansion, rather than contracted revenue.

In a robotaxi operation, more vehicles can create more driving data, but useful data depends on how unusual situations are captured, labeled and fed back into development. A larger computing cluster can support that process; the financing announcement alone cannot show whether it improves driving performance.

The business must be assessed at the ride level

The relevant commercial unit is a safely completed passenger trip. Vehicle utilization, cleaning, charging, maintenance and remote support all affect the cost of providing that trip. A funding valuation cannot answer those operating questions.

The difference between production and service also matters geographically: a manufactured car does not automatically have permission to carry passengers in every intended city. The next useful disclosures would connect the HR1 fleet to authorized service areas, actual paid rides and the resources needed to operate each vehicle. Those measures would make it possible to assess whether the new capital is supporting a repeatable service rather than simply increasing fleet size.
