THE ESSENTIALS
  • Kling AI generated more than RMB 850 million in second-quarter revenue, according to Kuaishou.
  • Kuaishou reported group revenue of RMB 35.5 billion and adjusted net profit of RMB 3.9 billion.
  • Official results show advertising revenue rose while livestreaming revenue declined.

Video generation becomes a measurable revenue line

Kuaishou reported that Kling AI generated more than RMB 850 million in the second quarter of 2026, growing more than 200% from a year earlier. The company's official results place total quarterly revenue at RMB 35.5 billion and adjusted net profit at RMB 3.9 billion.

The Kling figure is evidence of revenue from the business, rather than a count of generated clips or registered users. It does not, on its own, reveal the product's gross margin, customer retention or cost of serving each generation.

The rest of the company is moving unevenly

The official release says online-marketing revenue increased 4.4% to RMB 20.6 billion, while livestreaming revenue fell 13.5% to RMB 8.7 billion. Other-services revenue rose 18.5% to RMB 6.2 billion, with Kling identified as a principal contributor to that growth.

This is more precise than describing advertising and livestreaming as both declining. Kling is growing quickly, but it remains part of a much larger company whose activities have different revenue and cost dynamics. Its sales should not be added on top of consolidated revenue as if they were excluded from the group accounts.

The earnings release identifies the product changes

Kuaishou describes several additions during the quarter: native 4K output in the Kling 3.0 series, the faster Kling 3.0 Turbo model, and MCP and command-line interfaces for agent-driven batch creation. These are company-reported product developments. The release's claims of industry leadership are not an independent ranking.

MCP and the command-line interface change how the service can be used. A creator working through a website selects and submits jobs manually; an integration can submit generation requests as one step in a larger production workflow. That creates a different potential customer use case from casual one-off clips, without proving how much revenue came from either group.

Using the reported RMB 850 million floor and group revenue, Kling represented more than roughly 2.4% of total quarterly sales. This is a calculation from the published figures, not a separately disclosed segment margin. It places a rapidly growing product inside a mature platform that remains much larger.

Revenue growth leaves operating questions

For a generation service, the relationship between payment and computing use matters. A customer may generate several candidates before choosing a usable clip. The service's commercial performance therefore depends on both what users pay and the resources required to produce acceptable results.

The results announcement does not provide a standalone Kling profitability statement. That limits conclusions about how much of its sales growth flows through to earnings. Follow-up disclosures on repeat spending, pricing and service costs would make the growth easier to evaluate. For now, the quarter establishes meaningful commercialization while leaving the unit economics less visible.

Group margins should not be assigned to Kling

At the consolidated level, Kuaishou reported a 51.6% gross margin, compared with 55.7% a year earlier, and RMB 3.2 billion of profit for the quarter. The RMB 3.9 billion adjusted net-profit measure excludes share-based compensation and investment fair-value changes under the company's definition.

Those group measures combine advertising, livestreaming and other services. They cannot be used to calculate Kling's standalone earnings by multiplying its revenue by the consolidated margin. The useful conclusion from the release is that video generation has become a meaningful source of incremental sales, while product-level profitability remains undisclosed.
