THE ESSENTIALS
  • Twoo puts two people and a shared AI character in one conversation.
  • Its founder describes shared memory, reminders and a notebook as ways to turn conversation into joint activity.
  • The Taiwan App Store lists Simplified Chinese and iOS 15.1 or later; overseas expansion plans are not completed localization.

An AI in a shared conversation

Twoo is built around a group of three: two human users and an AI character represented by a small octopus. In a TechNode interview, founder Cobe Chen described the aim as helping people communicate and make plans together, rather than creating a companion for one person alone.

The distinction affects what the system has to remember. A private chatbot can organize information for one account; a shared assistant has to work with the context of a relationship. Chen describes a progression from remembering conversations to understanding preferences and supporting actions such as a shared plan or reminder.

The features are deliberately social

The App Store listing presents the product for couples and friends. It advertises conversation games, date and outing suggestions, reminders, anniversaries and shared memories. The app is free to download with in-app purchases, and the listed developer is Shanghai I Don't Care Technology Co., Ltd.

Those storefront descriptions are developer claims about the intended experience, not evidence that the app reliably understands a relationship. They do, however, make the product more concrete than the broad label 'AI companion': the proposed interface is a recurring shared space with prompts and activities that both people can use.

A shared reminder is an especially clear example. It turns a statement in a conversation into an object that the participants can inspect and act on. That is a narrower, testable function than a promise that AI will improve communication or resolve disagreements.

Two possible routes to revenue

Chen told TechNode the team is exploring purchases linked to the octopus character, including outfits bought with in-app tokens, alongside paid professional functions. He also described users applying the product to collaborative writing and study plans. North America, Japan and South Korea were named as intended expansion markets.

These routes monetize different behavior. Cosmetic purchases depend on attachment to the shared character and space. Paid file handling or storage would depend on repeated practical use. The interview does not disclose revenue, retention, paying-user share or the relative importance of either route, so the business model remains a proposal rather than a demonstrated financial outcome.

Shared memory needs shared controls

The product design raises a specific question about control: who can inspect, edit or remove something the assistant remembers about both people? A memory may be useful to one participant and unwanted by the other. It can also become inaccurate as plans or relationships change.

Twoo's published privacy policy makes some of that data handling concrete. It describes processing text, voice and images supplied in conversations, as well as optional uploads of chat screenshots. It also describes a friend-suggestion feature that analyzes names mentioned in chats and is enabled by default. The policy says users can turn it off, and conversations involving a person who has disabled it will not be analyzed for that purpose. These are disclosed policy terms, not a technical audit of the app's behavior.

Availability for readers outside mainland China

The Taiwan App Store listing provides a concrete access check: it lists Simplified Chinese as the app language and requires iOS 15.1 or later for iPhone. It also lists compatibility with iPad and Apple Silicon Macs under their respective system requirements. Storefront presence does not establish that every payment, login method or feature works in every country.

That language listing is narrower than the founder’s expansion ambitions. The intended North American, Japanese and South Korean markets should not be described as completed localization. An overseas reader can inspect the linked storefront and policy today, while English-language support and locally adapted services still need separate confirmation.
