- The upgrades extend search toward task delivery, while Baidu's self-improvement claims remain company assertions.
Search beyond answers
Baidu announced four groups of AI upgrades for its app at a product briefing in Beijing on October 30, according to an original QbitAI report. They cover search, AI Lens, graphical interfaces and interactive applications, alongside an updated search AI API.
The company describes a shift from single questions and answers toward multistep information gathering and completed tasks. It says search can track matters over time after user confirmation and alert users when relevant information changes.
Visual tools and developer access
The upgraded AI Lens supports recognition and tracking of multiple objects, follow-up questions and real-time conversations in nine Chinese dialects, the report says. Baidu also introduced interactive dramas and applications in which users can influence outcomes, rather than only watch content.
For developers, the search AI API has a limited-time entry price of RMB 4.9 per thousand queries. Baidu says feedback from real searches feeds a retraining loop and supports iterative improvement. Those architecture and efficiency claims are attributed to the company; the report does not provide independent benchmark validation or establish that every feature is available to every user.
